Kiwis at Australia’s biggest mining event
By Ross Louthean

There will be a significant presence of New Zealanders at this year’s Diggers & Dealers Forum which begins in Kalgoorlie today.

Improved market conditions in Australia will see a record attendance of 2,300 at the event which goes through to a conference dinner on Wednesday night.

OceanaGold Corporation (TSX & ASX: OGC) is a familiar presenter at Diggers and the company won the prestigious Diggers Award in 2015.

The company will give a talk on Tuesday morning and the presenter will be Cody Whipperman, vice president for corporate development.

For the first time New Zealand Petroleum & Minerals (NZP&M) and GNS Science will share a booth, and one of the team seen at the setting up of booths last night was GNS Science regional geology manager Rob Smillie.

One of the junior Australian gold explorers present this year is Explaurum Ltd whose managing director John Lawton will present on Wednesday morning on the company’s emerging discovery near Narembeen in Western Australia’s eastern wheatbelt.

The company’s chairman is Chris Baker, chief executive of NZ’s mining lobby Straterra.
