Nautilus Minerals Inc (TSX: NUS; OTC: NUSMF) has appointed a chief operating officer.

The company, which is advancing the world’s first seafloor massive sulphides mining operation in Papua New Guinea waters, has appointed Wayne Knott to the role.

Knott is a metallurgist with 30 years’ experience in the mining sector, with a strong focus in dredging and operational start-ups.

He previously worked for Nautilus as operations manager between 2010-12 when he was responsible for and played a key role in the design and scope of the current production system.

Nautilus said Knott is MBA qualified with a bachelor’s degree equivalent in extraction metallurgy.
